How To Develop
Every athlete and trainee should have a goal in their training. My guess is that if you’re an athlete, you compete in a sport that requires a dynamic movement at quick speeds at least once in a while. A wrestler shooting in for that take down, a hockey player furiously slapping the puck, a volleyball player going for the kill or a dig, a football player delivering a hit or receiving a pass that is slightly out of reach, and the innocent bystander all have very different and distinct activities in their sports and lives, yet, at times, require very similar needs in their training.
Most sports and activities only take place over the course of several minutes, but the most exciting, and usually the most important moments tend to happen in the blink of an eye. 10 Reasons Why your Program Fails
Whether it’s injury history, inexperience, lack of familiarity with certain exercises, poor overall recovery capacity, or any number of other confounding factors, something is always going to stand in the way of making a program for the masses suitable for everyone who reads it.

Pitfall #1: Crap Periodization
It fascinates me that there are still misinformed coaches using linear periodization in spite of reports that have proven it to be an inferior source of programming when compared to non-linear modalities.
What’s even more hilarious is that there are “coaches” using programs right out of rubbish bodybuilding magazines! Too Hell With Excuses
“I’m getting old.”
“I can’t do the things I used to.”
“I’m over the hill.”
“I can’t train heavy anymore.”
“I can’t keep up with the twenty somethings anymore.”
“I’m starting to feel my age.”
“I’m too old for that.”
If you’re under the age of 40 and have been heard saying things like that you should be ashamed and embarrassed. Seriously check yourself!!!
Ray Lewis is in another season as one of the absolute best defensive players in the NFL and doesn’t seem to have lost a step. He’s well over 35.
I mean just check out this Korean Judo Master, dude’s still kicking ass!!
So is Donald Driver who is still an outstanding wide receiver and training as hard as he ever has.
While Brett Favre fell apart a few years back but he was still one of the best quarterbacks in the league during the 2009 season at 40 years old.
Warren Moon was a Pro Bowl quarterback at 41.
